let’s talk about fall trends

Fashionista

As I write this I have sweat dripping down my face and my iced coffee has more condensation than caffeine – but alas, I am reporting what trends I will be rocking when the temperature actually dips below 80 degrees.

* resources I used for inspiration are: Instagram, Pinterest, home decor, cinema, artwork, and fashion magazines(vogue, dazed, and marie claire) *

the trends:

  • DENIM
  • patterned blazers
  • berets/baker boy hats
  • patent leather (shoes/pants)
  • shearling jackets
  • silk
  • pink, yellow, and purple (I know what you’re thinking and no, not together, unless you are bold as hell – then I say go for it!)
  • high rise trousers
  • turtlenecks (my personal fav)

I have already started thrifting some fall pieces and I think they all will make interesting looks and go together really well. My goal is to start collecting only what I consider essential pieces or things that I know I would regret not buying in the store. I want to work with those essentials to create multiple different looks rather than wearing an entirely new garment everyday.

The trends this fall remind me a lot of paris/london in the 2000s, annie hall, and keira knightley circa love actually. Basically all I want to do is dress like a free people model – HA.  Below are some neat pictures of my current inspiration for trends- happy scrolling!

heading to nyc

Fashionista

I am heading to New York City with the UNT Fashion Merchandising program and I am so excited! We get to make our way around the city to meet with an array of different companies within the industry, including the Louis Vuitton North American headquarters. Along with all of our appointments we get to go on a food tour of Greenwich Village and a broadway show. With the trip approaching rapidly(I leave Sunday) I am starting to get seriously anxious. Main reason being that whenever I am fortunate enough to visit the fashion capitol of the world I get overly critical of my outfits, which can make the packing process extra stressful.

As I am finally starting to get over my packing anxiety to actually start trying to put outfits together I literally am taking all of my clothes out of my closet and scattering them on my bed and gazing at them in fear. After glaring at them for all of 5 minutes I proceeded to leave every article of clothing that I own on the bed and escape into chloe’s room to hide from the responsibility. Now I am writing this post as another attempt to avoid the dreadful task. Will I ever finish filling my suitcase? Stay tuned and be on the lookout for a post trip blog(and hopefully a video) of what I decided to wear and where I went.

just some summer inspiration

Fashionista, Life's Pleasures

Summer is just around the corner so as per usual I am looking for outfit inspiration and ideas. I have a lot of fun things happening this summer including heading to NYC for a study tour with the UNT Merchandising program, so of course I need to look my best! I have been on Pinterest for the past few weeks rounding up some of my favorite summer looks. So enjoy!

After unpacking my suitcase from Colorado, I repacked it again to head off to New York City. I traded in my hiking shoes for my more stylish sneakers. We walked from borough to borough, pretending like we were natives to the city. After having done most of the touristy sites on our last trip to NYC we opted to try out some activities that the locals prefer. We enjoyed local coffee shops, eateries, and abandoned subway tracks turned into parks. We even have some pictures to prove it, here look:

Then after our amazing four days in New York, we took the ferry over the New Jersey to relax at the beach. Which I must say was needed, my feet were bandaged beyond belief.

I hope to see you again soon, New York. I love you, I really do.

xo,
